Four more bodies were pulled out from the rubble of the Kiambu building that collapsed on Monday bringing the death toll to 6. Three bodies were removed on Tuesday dawn at 3am local time while the fourth was retrieved at1.46 pm. The five-storey building under construction gave in at about 3pm on Monday. A guard outside the collapsed building confirmed to the Kenya Red Cross personnel currently involved in rescue efforts, that there was a loud bang when the building cracked, before collapsing. Rescue efforts are still continuing to find 17 people who have been reported missing. There are reports that those trapped in the building have made phone calls to their colleagues and relatives. Currently, a council bulldozer is on site digging through the rubble in an effort to retrieve bodies of those trapped underneath.Personnel from the National youth service and G4S are on site assisting the Kenya Red Cross. On monday, a foreman confirmed that at least 50 people were in the building. 18 people have so far been rescued and taken to Kiambu District Hospital for treatment. Among the injured eight were admitted at the Kiambu district hospital as one was rushed to Kenyatta national hospital with multiple injuries. Kenya Red Cross Society has pitched a tent at the scene to support rescue of victims, tracing missing persons, to provide First Aid and psychosocial support. Also at the scene are doctors from Kiambu District Hospital and a team from the Nairobi Fire services.
